Transferring website to other host
Hello,
We transferred our domain and website to another hosting provider one week ago.
The website will not function and when we try to open the admin we get this message;
Error Establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or that contact with the database server at md49.wedos.net could not be established. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
And our domain and hosting is still listed on the wedos dashboard?
Any help is much appreciated.

Hello,
the error “Error Establishing a database connection” means that your website is unable to connect to its database. In your case, WordPress is still trying to connect to the original database server at md49.wedos.net, ours.
It is likely necessary to update the database connection details in the wp-config.php. With this however you need to turn to your new hosting provider support for new database credentials.
Your hosting is still visible in the WEDOS administration, because our service expires on the 30th April 2026 (2 days) and will be deleted 30 days after. Currently your domain is still directed to it in DNS. Or you can set it as expiring.
Thank you for clarifying.
You will find your current database credentials on our side here.
You do however need to login into your customer account, as autorization for safety reasons.
Password is only available in email sent when database was created. If you dont have it, you have to change the password.
